Second-hand candleholders

Nagel modular candleholders, model S22, from the 70s.

In 1965, Hans Nagel and his architect friend Werner Stoff devised a system for assembling candleholders, culminating in the Nagel S22 candleholder.

In the early 70s, Bayerische Metallwarenfabrik (BMF) decided to compete with Nagel by bringing out its own modular tripod candleholders.

Less well known are the tripod candleholders that appeared in the 70s.

Nagel and BMF made other models, and other brands such as Quist and Hammonia Motard created their own.

A passion to share

In addition to our candlesticks for sale, here you’ll find lots of information about vintage modular candlesticks.
You won’t find much information about them on the Internet or in specialized books; the rare information is the brands and designers displayed on dealer and auction listings. Unfortunately, this is often wrong and generally very confusing: wrong brand attribution (usually confusion between Nagel and BMF), wrong designer attribution (Ceasar Stoffi instead of Werner Stoff)…

All our information comes from our own research, carried out with passion over the years, and is derived exclusively from period documents: magazines and advertisements from the 70s, original boxes and documentation, which you’ll find in some of our photos.
